The service
Methang is a commerce platform for small businesses, delivered as an iOS app. It lets shop owners record sales, manage stock and customers, send invoice and receipt links, and publish a simple online catalogue. The companion website methang.com is where customers view those public share links.
By using the app or website you’re agreeing to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Who can use Methang
To create an account you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have the authority to represent the shop or business you’re adding to Methang. If you’re an employee, you’re saying the owner has approved your use.
- Be allowed to use the service under the laws of the country you’re using it from, and under the laws governing these Terms (see the Governing law section below). Methang is not available in countries that Apple’s App Store doesn’t serve.
If a parent or guardian sees a minor using the app, please email hello@methang.com and we’ll close the account.
Your account
- Use a real email/phone you control — we send password resets and security alerts to it.
- Keep your password secret. You’re responsible for anything that happens through your account. If you suspect someone else has access, change your password and let us know.
- One account per person. Don’t share login credentials with employees — give each person their own user under your shop (using the in-app team / users feature).
- Keep your shop information accurate so receipts your customers see are correct.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Methang to:
- Sell goods or services that are illegal under applicable law (for example: narcotics, counterfeit goods, weapons that require a licence you don’t have, or anything that violates intellectual property rights).
- Pretend to be someone else, set up a shop under a fake business identity, or otherwise mislead customers about who you are.
- Run scams, money-laundering, or fraudulent invoicing schemes.
- Scrape, crawl, or reverse-engineer the app or the website beyond what’s normal use, or build a competing product from our APIs.
- Resell or sublicense Methang to other businesses as if you were the operator.
- Try to access another shop’s data, disrupt the service, or upload malware.
- Spam your customers — only send receipts and invoices to people who actually transact with you.
If we believe you’re breaking these rules we may suspend your account while we investigate. Serious breaches will lead to termination (see below).
Subscriptions & payment
Methang has a free tier and three paid plans: Basic ₦1,800/month, Growth ₦4,500/month, and Pro ₦9,000/month. Prices shown in your local currency are localised by Apple based on your App Store region; we may change pricing with notice. New users may be offered an introductory price or free trial — the exact terms are shown to you before you confirm purchase.
All paid plans are billed by Apple through your Apple ID using In-App Purchase. By subscribing you also agree to Apple’s standard EULA for paid apps. Important details:
- Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by Methang. Apple’s refund policy applies; you can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t override Apple’s decision, but we’re happy to write a supporting note for genuine cases — email us first.
- Trial periods convert into paid subscriptions automatically unless you cancel before they end.
- If a payment fails, your subscription pauses. After a grace period your account drops back to the free tier and some features become read-only.
Invoices, receipts & transactions
Methang gives you a tool to record sales and to share receipts and invoices with your customers. We are not a party to the underlying transactions between you and your customers. We don’t collect money on your behalf, we don’t hold funds, and we don’t mediate disputes.
That means:
- You decide what to charge, what to refund, and what to deliver.
- You are responsible for accurate invoicing, taxes (where applicable), and compliance with any laws governing your trade.
- If a customer disputes a sale with you, you handle it directly. Methang can produce the record we have but won’t arbitrate.
Your content
You own your data. The items you create, the sales you record, the photos you upload, and the customer details you enter all remain yours.
You grant Methang a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, transmit, display, and back up your content only for the purpose of running the service for you. That licence ends when you delete the content, subject to the retention windows described in our Privacy Policy.
You confirm that any content you upload is yours to upload (e.g. you have rights to the product photos and the customer info you enter), and that it doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.
Our intellectual property
The Methang name, logo, app, website, source code, and visual design are ours (or licensed to us). Nothing on this site or in these Terms gives you the right to use those except to use the service as a normal customer.
You may not copy our app, build a competing commerce platform that copies the Methang interface, or use the Methang name to market your own product.
Termination
You can stop using Methang at any time by cancelling your subscription in the App Store and deleting your account from inside the app (or by emailing us to do it for you).
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, if your account becomes a security risk, or if continuing to provide service to you would put us in breach of the law. Where we reasonably can, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
When an account ends, we’ll process your data in the way described in the Privacy Policy retention section.
Warranty & liability
We work hard to keep Methang reliable, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties — express or implied — about merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of calculations, or non-infringement.
In particular, we don’t guarantee that:
- The service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Reports, totals, and analytics are correct for accounting or tax purposes — please reconcile against your own records.
- Internet outages, App Store outages, or third-party processor outages won’t affect availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Neither party will be liable for indirect or consequential losses — for example, lost profits, lost sales, business interruption, or loss of goodwill.
- Our total aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the amount you paid us for the service in that period (or, if you’re on the free plan, ₦25,000).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Methang against any reasonable third-party claim arising from (a) content you uploaded that you didn’t have the right to upload, (b) your breach of these Terms, or (c) goods or services you sold that we had nothing to do with. We’ll let you know promptly if we receive a claim, and we won’t settle it in a way that admits liability on your behalf without your consent.
Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Methang is registered. Any dispute that can’t be resolved by sensible conversation will be heard exclusively by the courts of Lagos, Nigeria.
Before going to court, please email hello@methang.com and give us 30 days to fix things — most issues turn out to be a misunderstanding we can sort over email.
Changes to these Terms
We’ll update these Terms from time to time — to add new features, to reflect new laws, or to fix unclear wording. The “Last updated” date at the top is always the source of truth.
If a change materially affects your rights we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice inside the app and by email. If you don’t agree with a change, stop using the service before it takes effect — continuing to use Methang after that means you accept the new version.
